Working out can be a mental challenge. How do you find motivation when your mind says no and your muscles start to fall in agreement? Here are simple tips to get both your mind and muscles back on the positive track.
Take a class. When I dread working out, I grab a group workout schedule. There are so many different classes available ranging from Body Pump, Boot Camp, to Zumba. Jump in one. One hour and it’s over, not to mention you will often find motivation from other members or the instructor. Once you’re in the class your less unlikely to quit.
Distract Yourself. Pump The Playlist. Music can elevate your mood. So the next time you’re lacking motivation, pump up your favorite songs for an hour, and get on your exercise grind.
Reward Yourself. Who doesn't like rewards? When you’re feeling like ditching your work out, make a deal with yourself. When you reach your goal treat yourself to a smoothie, watch a movie, or go visit your favorite healthy restaurant.
Grab A Work Out Partner. Grab a buddy when you’re feeling unmotivated. There are great benefits when you have a work out partner, compared to going solo. Accountability, you’re less likely to cancel on your friend than yourself. You can find motivation in a work out partner when you feel like throwing in the towel. Workouts can become creative and fun while working out with your friend. Why not grab a game of racquetball, play basketball, or run a few miles together. When I have a partner not only do I look forward to their company, but those dreaded work outs become less torturous. LOL.
Working out is a commitment and its hard work, but you will get through it, just be creative on those unmotivated days and you will remain on your journey to reaching your goals. :-)
